WEEKEND BAG PROGRAM
At the age of 14, high school freshman Isobel Costello heard conversations about her peers not having enough food or hygiene products in their home in the way she, and many teenagers, do. Feeling the need to do something about it, she took matters into her own hands by creating the Weekend Bag program, which she has been successfully running for 3 years.
Isobel fundraises and meets local businesses who provide support and donations to fill these Weekend Bags that she prepares and delivers to her school for distribution to students participating in this program. Student identity always remains confidential.
A student liaison works with Isobel in distributing bags to students in those schools who have adopted the program.
Isobel’s future goal for this program is to have it expand district-wide, to help as many peers in need as possible.
Sojihuggles Children’s Foundation is partnering with the Weekend Bag Program in accordance with our mission to provide basic necessities for underprivileged children. Our goal is to expand this program to reach even more of the many children in need.
